Composed by Daniele Carnevali. 1.Jota 2.Habanera 3.Paso doble. Original Work, Suite. Score and set of parts. Duration 6:20. Published by Scomegna Edizioni Musical srl (S4.ESB1060).3 dances of Spanish origin powerfully distinguish this composition. The JOTA (Allegro in triple meter, 3/4) has a pressing character, although at times its constant crescendo alternates, in rondo form, with moments of greater lyricism. In the HABANERA, a dance with a typical rhythmic and solemn gait, the melody in minor is introduced by the soloist (oboe) and then carried on by tutti in a variation. The second theme of the concluding traditional PASO DOBLE features a trumpet, the emblematic instrument of the bullfighting arena, in an almost freely composed cadenza. Harmonies, cadenzas, and rhythms following distinctive Spanish conventions contribute to the recollection of images of Spain depicted in three postcards. The performance of the composition could end with a classic OLE' sung by the whole ensemble.
