The Flute and Percussion accompaniment represents Pan and Bacchus, the mythological deities of ethereal and earthly passion. David Rayl, director of choral activities at the University of Missouri-Columbia wrote to tell us that, "Jean Belmont's INVITATION is the best new choral work I've encountered in several years. Written in a lush, neo-romantic style, it presents many musical and vocal challenges, but unlike some other 20th century works, my students never tired of working on it and our audiences loved it. " Jean Belmont has won many awards for her compositions including the "Barlow International Competition award" twice and the National Public Radio Lucian Wulsin Award for Best New Music.
